5 REASONS WHY JUDO IS GREAT FOR KIDS

JUDO IS A HIGHLY DISCIPLINED AND REWARDING SPORT THAT HAS MANY BENEFITS, WE’VE PUT TOGETHER 5 REASONS WHY WE THINK JUDO IS GREAT FOR KIDS.

1. Judo provides children with concrete, achievable goals to work towards.

Working towards a goal gives our juniors something to focus on, Club Judoka encourages setting and working towards goals to keep kids engaged and motivated. In turn we believe this builds a strong mindset for drive and ambition in their futures not just in training but outside of Judo.

We attend competitions through out the year where our members get the chance to take part in a competitive environment. These competitions are not only an excellent experience for our juniors but a great goal-post to work towards.

2. Everyone can learn at their own pace.

Each technique can be broken down so that each child can learn at their own pace and work on perfecting each move gradually. We give all our members valuable one to one time in order to help them progress in their ability and build esteem.

3. Excellent for coordination.

Judo is excellent for building coordination, all moves and techniques require strong mind and body correspondence. Coordination is a basic but necessary motor skill that all children should practice and posses to function effectively in daily life.

4. It provides discipline and structure with clear expectations for behaviour.

This is probably one of those most beneficial reasons for Judo being great for kids. Club Judoka practice and promote a basic etiquette for all of our juniors, for both inside and outside of their Judoka training.

To always do my best and never give up

To obey my parents and teachers

To tell the truth and honour my word

To always be polite

To never misuse what I learn in class

It’s important to provide a clear structure in our training and set strong expectations and repercussions of behaviour for all our members. This is especially crucial for our juniors; to set boundaries to take away with them in their daily lives as well as in their training.

5. It’s a safe outlet for excess energy.

Our weekly training ensures a safe environment for all of our junior club members. Our team of qualified instructors are there to channel any excess energy into their training in a safe and regulated way.

Club Judoka has it’s own dojo based in Optimus Gym in Rustington. Find out more about our training sessions.
